Highlighting local experts through interactive participant sessions and over 50 local businesses, organizations and products in a Trade Show.


Local, affordable, and do-able lifestyle solutions for right now will be demonstrated and discussed at the 5th Annual Sustainable Living Symposium.  Local experts will show you how to implement earth-friendly and cost-effective solutions such as urban food gardens, energy efficient renovations and reno's for healthier living, renewable energy, new home design, rooftop solar, the feed-in-tarriff program, home and business owner incentive programs and more.

The focus is on local solutions, local services, and local businesses. You'll work with your neighbours and local experts to find out how to make a difference today, for a sustainable tomorrow.

Bird Identification Course

at the H.R. Frink Outdoor Education Centre with Naturalist Terry Sprague

Terry Sprague, InstructorThe six week course introduces you to the more common families of birds and shows you how to recognize them by profile and mannerisms. The course will focus on hawks and owls, warblers and vireos, sparrows, blackbirds, wetland birds, thrushes, wrens, swallows and mimics, but will also show you how to separate various species of woodpeckers, shorebirds, geese and ducks, and you will leave this course convinced that the flycatcher family really isn’t that difficult at all.
